📍Abuja | Media360Impact Report
T
he Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the conviction of a traffic offender involved in the abduction and assault of one of its personnel during a routine patrol operation in Abuja.

The incident occurred on April 30, 2026, along the Kubwa Expressway when officers of the Dutse Alhaji Unit Command stopped a Toyota Hilux vehicle for traffic enforcement at Gegu Filling Station.

According to the FRSC, the driver resisted lawful directives and became violent, leading to the assault and temporary abduction of a Marshal on duty.

The situation was quickly brought under control through the joint efforts of FRSC operatives and police personnel attached to the patrol team. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to the FCDA Police Station in Kubwa, while the vehicle was impounded.

Following prosecution, the court found the offender guilty and imposed a fine of ₦72,000 or a three-month jail term. The court also awarded ₦50,000 compensation to the assaulted officer.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the professionalism and restraint shown by the patrol team, despite the attack.
He stressed that any form of violence against traffic enforcement officers is a direct threat to public safety and the rule of law.

The FRSC reiterated its commitment to enforcing traffic regulations with fairness and respect for human rights, while warning motorists against assault, obstruction, or intimidation of officers on duty.

The Corps also urged the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies, noting that compliance with traffic laws is essential for safer roads and the protection of lives nationwide.
