Abuja | Media Report
The Labour Party has reiterated that it does not currently operate any official social media accounts, warning the public to disregard information circulating from unauthorized platforms.

In a statement issued on April 19, 2026, the party’s Senior Special Adviser on Media, Ken Eluma Asogwa, reaffirmed an earlier position announced in February, stressing that the party remains offline across all social media platforms.

The party specifically flagged a fraudulent X (formerly Twitter) account operating under the name “LABOUR PARTY (LP) NIG” with the handle @LabourpartyNGR_, describing it as deceptive and not affiliated with the party.

According to the statement, preliminary findings indicate that the account is the same one previously disowned in February but was rebranded by its operators in an attempt to continue misleading the public.

For clarity, the party noted that its only known official social media handles Labour Party-Nig on Facebook and @LabourPartyNG on X are currently inactive.

The party further disclosed that it has petitioned the Nigerian Police to recover its official X account, which it claims is under the control of former party leadership.

It added that individuals, including Barrister Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk, are cooperating with the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Force Intelligence Department as part of ongoing investigations into the unauthorized use of the party’s platforms.

The Labour Party emphasized that, pending the conclusion of investigations and recovery of its accounts, all official communications will be issued solely through press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.

It also dismissed claims circulating online suggesting the expected return of political figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing such reports as false and unauthorized.

The party urged the public and media organizations to remain vigilant and rely only on verified press statements for accurate information regarding its activities.
