150m Lifeline for Fallen Heroes’ Families as Zulum Extends Support.
In a strong show of compassion and solidarity, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has donated ₦150 million to the families of three military officers killed in recent insurgent attacks.
The governor presented ₦50 million each to the families of Lieutenant Colonel Umar Farouq, Lieutenant Colonel Salihu Iliyasu, and Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, describing them as brave patriots who paid the ultimate price in service to Nigeria.

During condolence visits to Abuja, Niger State, and Kano State, Zulum personally delivered the support, emphasizing that the gesture goes beyond financial aid and represents shared grief and appreciation from the people of Borno State.
At the Abuja residence of Lt. Col. Salihu Iliyasu, the governor met with the officer’s family and praised his dedication, courage, and sacrifice.
Similar tributes were paid during visits to the families of the other fallen officers.
Zulum reiterated that the sacrifices of military personnel must never be forgotten, assuring that his administration will continue to support families affected by the ongoing insurgency.

He also revealed plans to extend assistance to other families of soldiers killed or missing in action, as well as volunteer forces, including providing scholarships for their children.
The governor noted that such interventions are part of broader efforts to boost morale among security personnel and reinforce public support for the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
Zulum offered prayers for the deceased, asking God to grant them eternal rest and comfort their families.

The visit further highlights the Borno State Government’s continued commitment to both frontline operations and humanitarian support for those impacted by the conflict.
