Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have reported fresh successes in operations conducted in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
According to the JTF, the operations, carried out on September 26, 2026, resulted in the reported neutralisation of a terrorist, recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and rescue of six attempted kidnap victims.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops moved to the location and, according to the JTF, encountered an isolated terrorist whom they neutralised.
Items reportedly recovered from the location included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, as well as various tools and clothing.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops responded to information about an alleged kidnap attempt involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The JTF said troops arrived at the scene and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes.
Six kidnap victims were subsequently rescued and taken to a safe location, according to the military.
The JTF said the latest operations demonstrate the troops’ continued efforts to protect lives and property across the North West.
It also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements within their communities.
