📍Abuja | Media360Impact Report
The Nigeria Police Force has disbursed a total of ₦2.43 billion to 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of officers who died in active service, under its Group Life Assurance Scheme and Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Programme.

The cheque presentation, which took place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, marks a significant step in addressing outstanding insurance obligations spanning multiple policy years, including 2018/2019 through 2025/2026.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General of Police described the disbursement as both a moral obligation and institutional responsibility, emphasizing that the welfare of officers and their families remains central to the Force’s priorities.

He noted that beyond financial support, the gesture serves as recognition of the courage and sacrifice of officers who lost their lives in service to the nation. He also assured that reforms would be strengthened to ensure timely processing of benefits, improved transparency, and better welfare systems for serving personnel.

The IGP extended condolences to the families of the deceased officers, acknowledging their loss and reaffirming the Force’s commitment to standing by them.

He further commended the Force Insurance Unit and partner insurance companies for their role in facilitating the payments, while pledging continued collaboration to settle outstanding claims promptly.

The ceremony also highlighted renewed efforts by the Police leadership to leverage technology and administrative reforms to enhance efficiency in welfare delivery.
