The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has re-activated a joint security operation codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT” to strengthen security and combat criminal activities across Abuja.
The operation was launched on Friday at the Eagle Square, Abuja, by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, in collaboration with other security agencies operating within the territory.
According to the command, the operation is being carried out with the support of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The renewed security initiative is aimed at improving visibility policing, deterring criminal activities and ensuring swift multi-agency responses to security threats within the FCT.

The operation includes personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service and other security agencies.
To improve effectiveness, the operation has been divided into different sectors across the FCT to enhance coordination, strengthen rapid response and maintain a strong security presence.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
The command also charged personnel involved in the operation to remain proactive and maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
