
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commemorated the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations by spending time with sick and wounded soldiers receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna. He also extended his goodwill to troops deployed on various operations within the 1 Division Area of Responsibility.

In a statement issued by Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt. Col Musa Yahaya, it was noted that the COAS was represented at the event by the Commander of the Infantry Corps, Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim. General Ibrahim reiterated the COAS’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and combat readiness of Nigerian troops.
“Eid-el-Fitr symbolizes mutual respect, peaceful co-existence, and national unity,” General Ibrahim stated. “As we celebrate, we reflect on the values of sacrifice, resilience, and faith that define the Nigerian Army’s core principles.”
The COAS lauded the troops’ dedication to national security and urged them to maintain their patriotic spirit. He emphasized that ensuring their well-being remains a priority, in line with his command philosophy.

Earlier, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1, Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, provided an update on the security situation within the Division’s jurisdiction. While describing the area as volatile and complex, he highlighted significant achievements in maintaining peace and stability. These included enhanced security along major roads and successful rescue operations.
The event was attended by senior military officers, commanders, principal staff officers, and personnel from Headquarters 1 Division and 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
Key highlights of the celebration included cultural performances, a luncheon, and personal interactions with sick and wounded troops, fostering camaraderie and appreciation for their sacrifices in defending the nation.
