Abuja | Media360Impact Report
The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NiDO) Americas, South Savannah Chapter, has commended Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr Morufu Alausa, for what it described as a transformational impact on the country’s education sector within his first year in office.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chapter President, Collins Ikegwuonu, and Vice-President, Dr Tomi Ademokun, the organisation announced plans to confer a Ministerial Impact Award on the minister in recognition of his achievements.

According to NiDO, the award celebrates Alausa’s visionary leadership, commitment to educational reforms, and contributions as a diaspora professional advancing Nigeria’s global standing.
The group noted that the minister’s policies are repositioning Nigeria’s education system from a focus on access to one that prioritises quality and excellence.

“NiDOA South Savannah Chapter proudly recognises the exceptional leadership and transformational achievements of Dr Alausa following his impactful first year in office,” the statement read.

It further described Alausa as a distinguished diaspora figure whose service, innovation, and dedication to national development continue to inspire Nigerian professionals abroad.

NiDO highlighted several reforms introduced within the period, including the transition from the 6-3-3-4 system to a modern 12-year basic education model, and a shift in technical education to an 80 per cent practical and 20 per cent theoretical approach.

Other key initiatives cited include the introduction of data-driven education planning systems, the rollout of the Student Loan Scheme under NELFUND, expansion of infrastructure, and increased support for girls’ education through programmes such as AGILE.

The organisation also pointed to ongoing digital transformation efforts, curriculum reforms, and improved governance and accountability within the sector.

It stated that the award decision was based on verified policy updates, official ministry reports, and public records documenting measurable outcomes achieved within the minister’s first year.

NiDO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and leadership that empower Nigerian youth, strengthen institutions, and drive sustainable national development both locally and across the diaspora.
