Edo, Nigeria — The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to troop welfare and operational effectiveness, as he hosted a special Eid-el-Fitr luncheon with troops of the Forward Operations Base (FOB) Sobe in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Represented by the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, the COAS commended the troops for their resilience, sacrifice, and professionalism in safeguarding Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity despite operating in challenging conditions.

According to the statement, he emphasised the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration, noting that synergy among the armed forces, security, and intelligence agencies remains critical to maintaining national stability and achieving operational success.
The Army Chief also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to the Armed Forces, highlighting the administration’s commitment to improving troop welfare and strengthening military capacity.
In his welcome remarks, the Commander of FOB Sobe, Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Agboro, described the Sallah luncheon as a key morale-boosting initiative aimed at recognising the sacrifices of frontline personnel, honouring fallen heroes, and fostering unity within the ranks.
The event featured a variety of activities, including a communal luncheon, cultural dance displays, comedy performances, and musical presentations by troops, reinforcing camaraderie and boosting morale among personnel.
