NIMC Launches Self-Service Portal for NIN Data Modification

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced an online self-service portal that allows Nigerians to modify their National Identification Number (NIN) details without visiting an enrolment centre.

The platform, accessible via the official NIMC self-service modification portal, enables applicants to update personal information including name, address, phone number and date of birth.

According to information on the portal, applicants are required to register using their NIN and complete a facial capture verification in a well-lit environment to validate their identity.

The service attracts a fee of ₦2,000 for modifications such as name, address or phone number updates, while correction of date of birth costs ₦28,574.

Users are expected to upload supporting documents such as affidavits, National Population Commission certificates or police reports, depending on the nature of the correction.

Payments can be made via debit card or Remita. Once the request is submitted and approved, applicants receive a tracking ID and an updated NIN slip via email.

NIMC advises users to complete the process using one device and browser to avoid account lock issues and to ensure that uploaded documents are clear, high-quality scans in PDF or JPEG format.

The digital platform is part of ongoing efforts to streamline identity management services and reduce congestion at physical enrolment centres nationwide.
