The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has officially welcomed eight new members into its fold during an emergency meeting held on Thursday in Abuja, reinforcing its commitment to promoting professionalism and integrity in Nigeria’s online journalism space.
The new inductees were selected from a pool of candidates who expressed interest and completed the nomination process during ACOE’s recent membership window, in line with the association’s constitution.

Chux Ugwuatu, Chairman of the ACOE Screening Committee, confirmed that all eight candidates had fulfilled the constitutional requirements and were deemed qualified for full membership.
The newly admitted members include:

Odimmegwa Johnpeter (New Africa Horizon)
Segun Ojumu (African Eye)
Sunday Etuka (The Fact News)
Stella Idueme Omona (Star News Africa)
Nwachukwu John Owen (Skypost NG)
Joel Oladele (National Periscope)
Nelson Omonu (Summit Post)

Existing members took time to attest to the professionalism and reputations of the incoming editors, highlighting their honesty, industry connections, and years of experience in journalism. They also commended the Screening Committee for maintaining high standards and ensuring that only candidates of impeccable character are admitted into the association.

Welcoming the new members, ACOE President Comrade Sola Akingboye urged them to contribute actively to the growth of the association rather than focus solely on personal benefits. He added that having worked with several of the new members over the years, he could personally vouch for their integrity and professionalism.

Founded as the umbrella body for independent online editors in Nigeria, ACOE has its headquarters in Abuja and continues to advocate for journalistic standards, ethical reporting, and the professional development of its members.

During the meeting, the association also observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late daughter of member Alabidun Abdulraman, who passed away last week.
