The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has recorded a strong performance in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), scoring 82.65 per cent and earning a “Substantial Compliance” rating.

The assessment, carried out between 19 May and 20 June 2025, placed NiMet 10th out of 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) evaluated nationwide. The result was formally communicated to the Agency in a letter dated 29 December 2025.

In a related outcome, NiMet ranked 11th out of 356 MDAs on the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Effectiveness Index (AEI), with a score of 82.50 per cent, earning a “Very Effective” rating for the performance of its ACTU.

The ICPC’s EICS assessment is anchored on critical governance pillars, including management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative processes, and the effectiveness of internal anti-corruption mechanisms. NiMet’s performance, the Commission noted, reflects the robustness of its compliance framework, governance structures, and operational systems.

In a letter signed by the Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, the Agency was commended for instituting effective structures and processes that promote integrity, transparency, and efficiency. The Commission also encouraged NiMet’s management to sustain the standards achieved in order to ensure consistent ratings and continuous improvement in service delivery.

NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of accountability, transparency, and professionalism in the execution of its statutory mandate, noting that it will continue to strengthen internal controls and institutional processes in line with national integrity benchmarks.
