The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned a document circulating on social media alleging its approval of the postponement of the Ekiti State PDP Congress and Governorship Primary, describing it as fake and illegally issued.

In a statement on Friday, the Commission said the controversial letter purportedly signed by INEC Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony did not originate from any of its official channels. INEC added that preliminary checks confirmed the Secretary’s signature was forged.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, who issued the clarification, urged the public, political parties and the media to disregard the document in its entirety.

“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission has been drawn to a correspondence dated November 10, 2025, claiming to communicate the Resolution of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) Meeting and the postponement of the Ekiti State Congress/Governorship Primary,” the statement said. “The commission states unequivocally that the said correspondence did not emanate from the Office of the Secretary to the Commission.”

Describing the forgery as a deliberate attempt to deceive Nigerians and manipulate the electoral process, INEC warned those responsible to desist from such acts.

The Commission said it has begun working with security agencies to investigate the forgery and ensure the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted according to the law.
