The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Service Chiefs during a maiden courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.

Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.O. Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.

The visit symbolized a new phase of unity and collaboration among Nigeria’s military leadership, coming at a critical time when the country continues to confront diverse security challenges across its regions.

According to a statement by the Ministry, the meeting reflects the Minister’s commitment to fostering a cohesive and professional defence team, built on trust, shared purpose, and strategic coordination.

Minister Badaru commended the Service Chiefs for their sense of duty and professionalism, emphasizing that the success of Nigeria’s security operations depends on synergy across the Armed Forces.

“This administration remains fully committed to ensuring that our Armed Forces operate as one united, disciplined, and focused on defending our territorial integrity and protecting our citizens,” the Minister stated.

He reaffirmed that the Ministry, under his leadership, will continue to provide the necessary policy direction and support to strengthen national security architecture in line with the vision of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The visit marks the beginning of what defence observers describe as a renewed drive toward inter-service coordination and unified operational command, aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability across Nigeria.
