Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a major cocaine trafficking network and intercepted multiple illicit drug shipments in a nationwide crackdown spanning Lagos, Enugu, Kwara, Taraba, Kogi, Kaduna, Zamfara, and other states.

According to the statement, the operations, which also led to the arrest of several high-profile suspects, including popular Lagos socialite Pretty Mike underscore the agency’s renewed determination to dismantle drug cartels and block trafficking routes across Nigeria.
Cocaine in Cream Containers Bound for London
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, NDLEA officers discovered 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.60 kilograms cleverly concealed in the walls of cocoa butter body cream containers bound for London, United Kingdom.
The illicit consignment was intercepted on October 14, 2025, during routine cargo examination on an Air Peace flight. A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the shipment for export, was immediately arrested.
Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two key accomplices: Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, on October 18, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, Chief Executive Officer of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travels, who was apprehended at his office in Ikeja GRA on October 20.
Meth in Coffee Tea Pack, Tramadol in Water Heater
In a related operation at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, NDLEA officers arrested a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, attempting to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside a Diabeta Herbs Coffee Tea pack en route to the Philippines on October 22.
Similarly, 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg were recovered from a 100-litre water heater in Kwara State, leading to the arrest of Umar Abubakar (40) in Bode Saadu, Moro LGA, on October 21.
NDLEA Raids Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike and Others
Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives raided Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a drug party was in full swing in the early hours of Sunday, October 26.
Over 100 suspects, including the club owner and popular socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, were arrested for screening. Cartons of illicit drugs including Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas were seized from the club and its storage area.
Undercover NDLEA officers had infiltrated the event between 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, and disrupted the gathering around 3 a.m., following standard operational procedures.
More Arrests Across States
Taraba State: Two suspects, Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22), were arrested with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 at Dan-Anacha checkpoint while transporting the drugs from Onitsha to Mubi on October 21.

Kogi State: NDLEA operatives seized 162.2kg of skunk (cannabis) from a truck on the Okene–Lokoja highway on October 24.
Nasarawa State: Officers recovered 128kg of skunk from Abubakar Muhammad (55) in Keffi on October 22.
Lagos (Lekki): A female distributor, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, was arrested on October 17 with 500 grams of Canadian and California Loud, which she distributed across Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and VGC.
Ikorodu: NDLEA operatives raided Solomade Estate on October 23, where 275 litres of “skuchies” a cocktail of cannabis, blackcurrant drink, and opioids were recovered from Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe.
Abia State: A 75-year-old grandfather, Echendu Onuoka, was arrested in Obingwa LGA with 4.7kg of skunk, while a 60-year-old grandmother, Aukana John, was found with 225 grams in the same area.
Ondo & Kaduna States: NDLEA seized 150kg of skunk in Ikun Akoko (Ondo) and 234.5kg in Saminaka (Kaduna), arresting four suspects including Bashir Mohammad (50) and Samini Ahmed Tijjani (35).
Seme Border: Jacob Ojugbele was caught with 55kg of skunk, while Amusa Oluwabukola was arrested with 121.3 litres of skuchies in Badagry.
Zamfara State: NDLEA operatives intercepted Abubakar Ibrahim (30) on October 20 along Gummi–Anka road with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of ammunition bound for Bagega forest. The suspect and exhibits have been handed to appropriate security authorities for further investigation.
NDLEA Intensifies WADA Sensitization Nationwide
Meanwhile, NDLEA commands across the country have sustained their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign through lectures and outreach programs in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities.
Recent engagements include programs at Asabari Grammar School (Oyo), Government Day Girls Secondary School (Kebbi), St. Mark’s College (Enugu), Kusaki Secondary School (Benue), Police Children School (Rivers), and Hajara Ahmad International School (Kano), among others.
Marwa Commends Operatives
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers and men of the Agency’s various commands for their professionalism, resilience, and results.
He urged them to maintain momentum in both enforcement and advocacy, describing the balanced approach as “crucial to Nigeria’s overall drug control strategy.”
