Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a major cocaine trafficking network and intercepted multiple illicit drug shipments in a nationwide crackdown spanning Lagos, Enugu, Kwara, Taraba, Kogi, Kaduna, Zamfara, and other states.

This was contained in a statement signed by Femi Babafemi Director, Media & Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja on
Sunday, 26th October, 2025

According to the statement, the operations, which also led to the arrest of several high-profile suspects, including popular Lagos socialite Pretty Mike underscore the agency’s renewed determination to dismantle drug cartels and block trafficking routes across Nigeria.

Cocaine in Cream Containers Bound for London

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, NDLEA officers discovered 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.60 kilograms cleverly concealed in the walls of cocoa butter body cream containers bound for London, United Kingdom.

The illicit consignment was intercepted on October 14, 2025, during routine cargo examination on an Air Peace flight. A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the shipment for export, was immediately arrested.

Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two key accomplices: Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, on October 18, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, Chief Executive Officer of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travels, who was apprehended at his office in Ikeja GRA on October 20.

Meth in Coffee Tea Pack, Tramadol in Water Heater

In a related operation at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, NDLEA officers arrested a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, attempting to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside a Diabeta Herbs Coffee Tea pack en route to the Philippines on October 22.

Similarly, 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg were recovered from a 100-litre water heater in Kwara State, leading to the arrest of Umar Abubakar (40) in Bode Saadu, Moro LGA, on October 21.

NDLEA Raids Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike and Others

Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives raided Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a drug party was in full swing in the early hours of Sunday, October 26.

Over 100 suspects, including the club owner and popular socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, were arrested for screening. Cartons of illicit drugs including Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas were seized from the club and its storage area.

Undercover NDLEA officers had infiltrated the event between 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, and disrupted the gathering around 3 a.m., following standard operational procedures.
