Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated Paraguayan defender Diego León from Cerro Porteño, subject to registration.
In a statement released by the club, United expressed delight over the acquisition of the 18-year-old full-back, who is considered one of South America’s brightest young prospects.
León, a Paraguay youth international, joins the Red Devils after making 33 senior appearances and scoring four goals for Cerro Porteño. Known for his pace, strength, and attacking runs down the flank, León is expected to continue his development under the guidance of both Manchester United’s first team and Academy.
“Diego León is an exciting young talent with great potential. We’re looking forward to supporting him as he adjusts to life in Manchester and grows within our system,” the club noted.
León turned 18 in April and is now eligible to make the move to Europe. His signing reflects United’s ongoing commitment to investing in young talent for the future.
