As part of sustained military operations to rid Plateau State of armed criminal elements, troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN launched a successful intelligence-led raid on a notorious bandits’ hideout in Teng Village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, in the early hours of Friday, May 23.
According to a statement signed by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle during the operation. One bandit was neutralized, while others fled with injuries, as evidenced by blood trails along their escape routes.
The troops combed the hideout and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. The recovered arms and ammunition are currently in military custody for further investigation and action.
Troops are continuing the pursuit of the fleeing criminals to prevent further threats to the peace and safety of residents in the area.
Operation SAFE HAVEN commended the troops for their bravery and renewed commitment to tackling non-state actors and restoring law and order across the Joint Operations Area. The military reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle all criminal enclaves and ensure lasting peace in Plateau State.
