The Presidency has expressed concern over the growing number of billboards in various cities promoting an early campaign for the 2027 presidential elections featuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Particularly prominent in cities like Abuja and Kano, the billboards showcase images of President Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Shettima, sparking widespread public attention.
While the President and Vice President remain grateful for the unwavering support and enthusiasm of Nigerians, the Presidency firmly disapproves of any political campaign that violates the nation’s electoral laws.
The Electoral Act strictly prohibits premature electioneering, and the Presidency emphasizes that any such activity not only undermines the electoral process but also threatens its fairness and credibility.
As law-abiding leaders, President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima have not sanctioned or endorsed any group or individual to launch or promote a 2027 campaign on any platform—be it billboards, print, digital, radio, or television.
Accordingly, the Presidency is calling on all parties behind the unauthorized political advertisements to immediately halt their actions.
President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima remain focused on their mandate of nation-building. Their administration is currently prioritizing economic recovery, infrastructure development, social investment, human capital growth, and national security.
When the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially opens the 2027 election season, the President will make his intentions known to Nigerians.
