Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have raided a settlement in Gongoro, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, arresting two suspected herders following an attack on a military checkpoint.
The operation, conducted around 8:00 a.m. on November 1, 2026, involved troops of Sector 6 OPEP working alongside a DSOF team, EIB Stratoc, other security operatives and local vigilantes.
The raid followed an attack on troops stationed at the Angwan Boka military checkpoint on October 31, during which the suspected assailants reportedly fled with some military weapons.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was launched to track down the fleeing attackers, recover the missing weapons and identify others connected to the incident.
During the operation, troops arrested two suspected herders and recovered a motorcycle from the settlement.
The suspects have since been taken into military custody, while security operatives continue efforts to locate the missing weapons and apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the checkpoint attack.
Troops have also sustained security operations across the area to prevent further attacks, recover military property and maintain security in the affected communities.
The military operation comes amid continued efforts by security forces to contain security threats and protect lives and property across parts of Kaduna State.
