The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified recovery operations at the site of the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as efforts entered their 14th day on Sunday, October 19, 2026.

The Air Force said continuous pumping had significantly reduced the water level at the crash site, allowing recovery personnel to make further progress in efforts to remove the remaining water.

According to the Service, the team is working to complete the dewatering process, subject to prevailing conditions at the site.

The NAF also disclosed that workers were reinforcing the embankment with sandbags to prevent a possible collapse and maintain stability during the operation.

The recovery mission has required sustained engineering work and extensive dewatering because of the challenging conditions at the crash site.
