The Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Rotimi Odunaike, has kicked off his campaign in Ikeja, promising to tackle infrastructure decay and improve access to social amenities under a proposed administration built around the needs of ordinary residents.
At the campaign flag-off on October 16, 2026, Odunaike unveiled his campaign slogan, “A New Lagos For All,” arguing that the state’s development since the return to democracy in 1999 has largely benefited a privileged few.
He criticised the state’s infrastructure and social amenities, promising to begin addressing the challenges from the day he assumes office if elected.
“I will fix Lagos. Our slogan is ‘A New Lagos For All’. This is not just a mere slogan, but a determination to put the people at the centre of my administration. My deputy, Prince Lateef Adenkule Adele, and I will fix Lagos and make it work for all,” Odunaike said.
The campaign also featured the public presentation of his 162-page manifesto, titled “Our Covenant With the People of Lagos.”
According to the Labour Party, the document outlines the candidate’s proposed approach to addressing the challenges facing Lagos State.
The event was attended by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, and members of its National Working Committee.

Addressing party members, Usman urged the party’s leadership in Lagos to unite behind Odunaike and work collectively towards electoral victory.
She also challenged the party to improve on its performance in the 2023 elections, expressing confidence that a united Labour Party could make significant gains in the state.
“I charge you to surpass the feat the Labour Party recorded in 2023. I am certain that, with unity of purpose, you can achieve this because the Labour Party is a party of the grassroots in Lagos State,” she said.
Odunaike is a banking and finance professional and entrepreneur with interests in agriculture, technology and artificial intelligence.
He previously served as chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos State. The party says he assumed the position during a period of internal crisis and worked to reconcile factions and reposition the organisation.
His campaign is expected to focus on infrastructure, social amenities and a development agenda that he says will benefit residents across Lagos State.
The proposals outlined in his manifesto will be central to how voters assess his plans for the state ahead of the governorship election.
