The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has achieved a global milestone by becoming the first institution to simultaneously hold the status of an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Academy Training Centre (ATC) and an ITU Digital Transformation Centre (DTC).
The achievement was made possible with support from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), highlighting the growing partnership between both institutions in expanding digital skills development in Nigeria.
According to DBI, the dual recognition strengthens its capacity to provide digital skills training and certification to more Nigerians while supporting the development of a digitally skilled workforce across Africa.
Daser, who spoke on the development, said the milestone reflected the ITU’s confidence in DBI and the NCC’s continued support for digital capacity development in Nigeria.
He called for sustained NCC involvement as the initiative expands nationwide, noting that the Commission could leverage its infrastructure, networks and partnerships to take digital skills training to underserved communities.
Daser said the initiative also supports the objectives of Nigeria’s National Digital Literacy Framework, which targets 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030.

He stressed that achieving the target would require stronger collaboration and sustained investment in digital skills, particularly for people and communities that remain underserved.
He also acknowledged the role of the NCC in supporting DBI’s journey, describing the achievement as a demonstration of the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening Nigeria’s digital capacity.
“With the Digital Transformation Centre status, we are better positioned to expand our impact and support the development of a digitally skilled workforce for Nigeria and Africa,” Daser said.
The development positions DBI to play a stronger role in Nigeria’s efforts to close the digital skills gap and expand access to digital education and certification opportunities.
