Italy’s football federation has submitted details of 14 stadiums across 13 cities to UEFA as potential venues for the 2032 European Championship, which Italy will co-host with Türkiye.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) submitted the venue dossiers on Wednesday, September 30, within the deadline set by European football’s governing body.
The proposed locations are Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Salerno, Turin and Verona.
Rome is the only city with two stadium proposals in the submission, with the Stadio Olimpico and a planned new stadium in the Pietralata area included in the list.
Other venues under consideration include the San Nicola in Bari, Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna, Sant’Elia in Cagliari, Artemio Franchi in Florence, Luigi Ferraris in Genoa, Via del Mare in Lecce, San Siro in Milan, Diego Armando Maradona in Naples, Renzo Barbera in Palermo, Arechi in Salerno, Allianz Stadium in Turin and Marcantonio Bentegodi in Verona.
UEFA will now assess the submitted dossiers as part of its compliance process. The review will cover areas including infrastructure, accessibility, sustainability, supporter services, security, hospitality, media and broadcasting facilities.
After the assessment, the FIGC will select five Italian stadiums to host matches at EURO 2032. Türkiye will also provide five venues, bringing the total number of stadiums for the tournament to 10.
The FIGC president said the number of cities and stadium projects involved in the process demonstrated the broad interest in preparing Italy to host the European Championship.
UEFA confirmed Italy and Türkiye as joint hosts of EURO 2032 in October 2023. The tournament will mark Italy’s fourth time hosting the European Championship, while Türkiye will host the finals for the first time.
The final selection of venues will take place after UEFA completes its assessment of the proposed stadiums.
