Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will finally meet in the ring when the two British heavyweight stars clash at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, 2026.
The long-awaited all-British encounter is expected to attract worldwide attention, with Netflix set to broadcast the fight internationally.
The main event could begin in the early hours of Saturday morning in the United Kingdom, as organisers consider a late start to accommodate viewers in the United States.
The first major face-off of the build-up is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, when Joshua and Fury will appear together at a press conference in London.
Joshua, 36, acknowledged the significance of the occasion in a post on Instagram, writing: “I am inspiring a generation.”
Fury, 38, has yet to make a public comment on the announcement.
The event is being promoted through a partnership involving Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and UFC president Dana White.
Alalshikh described the contest as a meeting between two of the leading heavyweights of their generation and said he was pleased to finally deliver the fight to boxing fans.
Both Joshua and Fury have previously held world heavyweight titles and had reportedly signed contracts for the contest earlier in the year. However, the date and location remained unresolved until the latest announcement.
Wembley Stadium in London and Madison Square Garden in New York had been considered as possible venues. Negotiations around staging the bout at either location ultimately failed to produce a final agreement.
Cardiff’s Principality Stadium has now been selected to host what is expected to be one of the biggest British boxing events of the year.
The December encounter will bring together two fighters whose careers have been closely linked for more than a decade, with previous attempts to arrange a Joshua-Fury meeting repeatedly failing to result in a completed fight.
With the date and venue now confirmed, attention will turn to the September 30 press conference and the beginning of the official promotion for the heavyweight showdown.
