Afropolitan Edit, a fashion media and consultancy platform focused on African fashion and creative industry development, is set to launch THE EDIT, a two-day curated fashion retail experience in Lagos.
The event is scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2026, in Lekki, Lagos, and will take place during the Lagos Fashion Week season.
THE EDIT is designed to give independent African fashion brands an opportunity to connect directly with consumers, build commercial relationships and gain visibility beyond the traditional runway experience.
Built around the theme “A little more room for African fashion,” the initiative will feature 10 independent African fashion brands, giving consumers the opportunity to discover emerging labels, meet the people behind them and shop their collections.
According to Afropolitan Edit, the initiative reflects the growing presence of African fashion brands that are building businesses and communities beyond conventional runway showcases.
Precious Efanga, Creative Director of Afropolitan Edit, said THE EDIT was created to provide another avenue for African fashion brands to connect with audiences and turn visibility into lasting customer relationships.

“THE EDIT is about creating more room for African fashion to be discovered, experienced, and supported. There are exceptional brands building from studios, workshops, and growing businesses, and we want to create another platform through which their work can reach new audiences.”
Efanga said the decision to adopt a retail-first format was deliberate, arguing that the relationship between a fashion brand and its customers extends beyond the runway.
“A runway creates visibility, but the customer relationship begins when people can engage with the product, understand the story behind it, and make a decision to buy. THE EDIT is designed around that connection.”
Focus on Discovery and Direct Engagement
The event will focus on brand discovery, direct consumer engagement and retail.
Participating brands will have the opportunity to showcase their products in a setting that allows them to interact directly with consumers and receive feedback about their collections.
Afropolitan Edit also plans to extend the experience beyond the physical event through digital storytelling focused on participating brands, their products and the people behind them.
The digital component is expected to create additional visibility for the featured brands before, during and after the two-day retail experience.
Efanga described the combination of physical retail and digital storytelling as an important part of the initiative.
“We are looking beyond two days of retail. We want to tell the stories of the brands, introduce the people behind them, and create a longer conversation around their products. Visibility is important, but meaningful engagement and commercial sustainability are equally important.”
Creating More Room for African Fashion
THE EDIT will run alongside the wider Lagos Fashion Week season, creating an additional space for consumers, fashion enthusiasts and industry stakeholders to engage with African fashion.
For Afropolitan Edit, the initiative is aimed at contributing to a more connected fashion ecosystem in which independent brands have greater opportunities to be discovered, supported and commercially positioned.
“African fashion has extraordinary creative talent,” Efanga said. “What we are creating with THE EDIT is an additional platform for that talent to connect with audiences and translate creativity into sustainable business relationships.”

Through its combination of curated retail, brand storytelling and direct customer engagement, THE EDIT is expected to provide independent African fashion businesses with an additional avenue for visibility and stronger relationships with consumers.
Afropolitan Edit is a fashion media and consultancy platform focused on African fashion, creative industry development and business growth. Through storytelling, strategic programming and curated experiences, the platform connects fashion brands, audiences and the wider creative economy.
