The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom, with passport services scheduled to take place in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff this September.
The exercise is being carried out by a Passport Intervention Team from the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, following a directive from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to a statement issued on Monday and signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the intervention followed consultations between the Service, the High Commission of Nigeria and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.
The exercise will take place simultaneously in London and Manchester from September 7 to 19, 2026.
In London, the intervention will be held at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London, N14 4UW, while applicants in Manchester will be attended to at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester, M14 5NE.
The NIS team will subsequently move to Aberdeen and Cardiff, where the intervention exercise is scheduled for September 21 to 26, 2026.
In Aberdeen, the venue is the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR, while the Cardiff exercise will take place at Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff, CF11 9XR.
The Immigration Service urged eligible Nigerians in the four cities and surrounding areas to take advantage of the exercise, particularly those seeking to obtain new passports, renew existing ones or resolve pending passport applications.
Applicants are required to complete their applications and make payments through the official NIS Passport Application Portal before visiting their selected intervention centre.
The Service said applicants must come with a completed application form, payment slips as evidence of payment and an appointment slip.
Applicants are also required to provide a self-addressed return envelope.
Those seeking passport renewal must additionally present their current passport.
The NIS warned that applicants who arrive at the intervention centres with cash will not be attended to.
“Applicants who come with cash will not be attended to,” the Service stated, urging applicants to comply with the requirements to ensure a smooth and orderly exercise.
The Service also confirmed that its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remain operational.
It added that home delivery services are also available to passport applicants.
