The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has commended Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, for his commitment to sports development in the state.

Kankia also praised the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the Katsina Emirate.

The APC chieftain made the remarks while extending goodwill to participants and stakeholders in the 2026 polo season in Katsina, wishing players a safe and successful competition.

According to Kankia, Governor Radda’s support for sports is contributing to the sustenance of sporting activities while providing opportunities for athletes and young people to develop and showcase their talents.

He noted that investment in sports goes beyond competition, stressing that sporting activities can promote youth development, discipline, unity and positive engagement among young people.

Kankia also commended the Katsina Emir for preserving the traditions and values associated with the emirate, describing cultural heritage preservation as an important responsibility for both present and future generations.

He said the combination of sports development and cultural preservation could strengthen Katsina State’s identity while helping younger generations connect with and appreciate the state’s historical heritage.

The APC National Legal Adviser particularly wished participants in the 2026 polo competitions well, urging players to demonstrate sportsmanship and uphold the principles of fair play throughout the season.

He wished all polo players safe matches and a successful 2026 polo season.

Kankia’s comments come amid broader efforts by governments and traditional institutions to use sports and cultural activities to promote tourism, preserve heritage and strengthen community engagement.

He expressed optimism that sustained investment in sports, alongside efforts to preserve historical and cultural values, would continue to contribute to the development and visibility of Katsina State.
