OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to substitute authentic results from Saturday’s governorship election with fabricated figures.
Adeleke made the allegation shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Ede, where he also called on voters and party supporters to remain vigilant throughout the voting and collation processes.
The governor specifically rejected any move to transfer the collation of local government results to Osogbo, the state capital, insisting that results should be collated at the designated local government centres.
According to Adeleke, the APC had allegedly prepared what he described as fake results for some local government areas and was seeking an opportunity to replace the original results generated at polling units.
He said maintaining the integrity of the election would require strict adherence to the established collation process.
“We have it on good authority that Osun APC has written fake results for some local governments. The APC is looking for ways to swap the fake results with the original results,” Adeleke alleged.
He further alleged that the plan involved moving some local government collation centres to the state capital.
“All collation must be done at each local government. Under no circumstances should the local government collation be taken to the state capital,” he said.
Adeleke Urges Voters to Protect Their Votes
The governor urged Osun residents to come out and exercise their franchise, while encouraging voters to remain alert beyond the casting of their ballots.
“I have voted and I ask Osun people to come out en masse to vote and defend their votes. Nobody can deny Osun people their rights to vote and be voted for,” he said.
Adeleke also expressed confidence in his chances of retaining the governorship, declaring that he was winning the election by wide margins.
The election pits the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is seeking to retain control of Osun State, against the APC, which is seeking to return to power.
The governor’s allegations have placed additional attention on the collation stage, where results from polling units are aggregated through the prescribed electoral process before the final declaration.
Adeleke maintained that any attempt to alter or bypass the established collation procedure would be resisted, insisting that the final outcome must reflect the votes actually cast by Osun residents.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC had not publicly responded to the allegations.
