The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is deploying a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to help ease passport application challenges faced by Nigerians in the diaspora.
The intervention was ordered by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and will be implemented by the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
According to the NIS, the intervention team is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending, new and renewal passport applications.
As part of the exercise, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible applicants outside London and other locations to access the service more conveniently.
The intervention is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, new applicants and existing passport holders with less than one year remaining before their passports expire and who wish to apply for renewal.
Applicants are required to present their completed passport application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
However, the NIS advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule is released.
The Service said details of the designated cities, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements would be announced separately.
Applicants have therefore been advised to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom for updates.

The NIS also clarified that its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remain operational throughout the intervention.
The Service added that its home delivery option remains available to applicants.
The NIS said the intervention reflects its commitment to providing efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora.
