Damaturu, Yobe State – Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The operation, carried out on Wednesday, July 23, 2026, was conducted by troops of the 233 Battalion deployed at the Damaturu Military Cantonment in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the raid was launched after security forces received credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected criminals at Jegalari Village in Fune LGA.

During the operation, troops recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to have been used in the suspects’ criminal activities.

The military disclosed that the five suspects are currently in custody alongside the recovered exhibits as investigations continue to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying terrorists and criminal groups freedom of action across the North-East.

The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest security agency, stressing that timely and credible information from the public remains vital to improving security and protecting communities across the region.
