The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the immediate recruitment of 1,000 forest guards as part of efforts to secure the release of students and teachers abducted from two communities in Oyo State.

The group expressed confidence that the measures introduced by the Federal Government would lead to the safe rescue of the victims and improve security within affected communities.

In a statement jointly signed by TMV Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group also praised the recent visit of a high-powered Federal Government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, describing it as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to resolving the crisis.

According to the statement, President Tinubu approved several immediate interventions following the attack, including the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, the consideration of a military outpost in the affected area, and the deployment of a specialised security unit to track and apprehend the kidnappers.

The group noted that the President’s actions reflected empathy for the victims and a strong commitment to the safety of Nigerians, particularly schoolchildren.

TMV further stated that the temporary security measures could serve as a foundation for the eventual establishment of state police across the country.

The group also applauded President Tinubu’s position that no child should be denied access to education or become a victim of kidnapping due to insecurity.

It urged Nigerians to support ongoing government efforts to tackle insecurity, stressing that security should remain a collective responsibility.
