Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh successes against armed groups in the Northwest after neutralising suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Sokoto State and recovering dozens of rustled livestock in Katsina State.

The operations were carried out by troops of Sector 2 as part of ongoing military offensives targeting terrorist and bandit networks operating across the region.

Security sources disclosed that troops were deployed following reports that suspected members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group attempted to attack and set ablaze a Nigeria Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

On arrival, troops engaged the armed attackers in a gun battle, leading to the killing of two terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds under intense military pressure.

A follow-up mop-up operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, ammunition and a motorcycle abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation in Katsina State, troops on aggressive patrol intercepted suspected terrorists moving with a large herd of rustled livestock near Danya Bakwai Settlement in Jibia Local Government Area.

The suspects reportedly fled into nearby bushes after sighting the advancing troops, abandoning the stolen animals.

Troops recovered a total of 62 livestock, which were later returned to their owners during a handover ceremony held at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia.

Military authorities said the latest operations demonstrate the increasing pressure being mounted on criminal groups terrorising communities across the Northwest.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining military offensives against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements threatening peace and livelihoods in the region.

Residents were urged to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
