Idris received the award from Vanguard Media Limited at a ceremony held at Eko Hotel & Suites on Friday.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said the recognition comes at a critical time in Nigeria’s journey, as the government implements bold reforms aimed at repositioning the economy for sustainable growth.

“This award reflects the trust we are working to build with Nigerians. Communication is central to governance it must inspire confidence, unity, and hope,” he stated.

Idris highlighted the importance of transparency and consistent engagement with citizens and the media, noting that open dialogue has played a key role in strengthening public perception of government policies.

On national security, the Minister stressed the need for timely and accurate information, revealing ongoing collaboration between government agencies and media stakeholders to ensure public calm and confidence.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the media, government officials, and staff of the Ministry in advancing a more responsive and credible communication framework.

“As we navigate major reforms including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange adjustments, and fiscal restructuring our focus remains on clarity, consistency, and credibility. We are committed to communicating policies with empathy while highlighting their long-term benefits,” he added.

Reaffirming his dedication to transparency and accountability, the Minister described the award as “a call to do more for the Nigerian people.”
