The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed a fatal road traffic crash that occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Kasuwar Dogo, Dakatsale, along the Zaria-Kano Expressway, involving a DAF heavy-duty truck and a Toyota Hiace commercial bus.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by the FRSC’s rescue and crash investigation team, the tragic incident was caused by a route violation committed by the commercial bus driver, who was driving against the flow of traffic a reckless act that led to a head-on collision with the oncoming truck.
Fatal Toll
Out of the 24 persons involved in the crash:
21 lost their lives, including 19 male adults and 2 female adults
3 others sustained injuries and were rescued by emergency teams
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at Nasarawa Hospital, Kano, while injured victims are receiving appropriate medical care.
FRSC Speaks
In a statement issued by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, the FRSC extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public that a full investigation is underway to determine all contributing factors.
The Corps condemned the illegal act of driving against traffic, urging commercial and truck drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. “This crash is a painful reminder that dangerous road behaviors cost lives,” the statement emphasized.
