A delegation of retired Deputy Commanders General of Narcotics (DCGNs) who previously served as directors at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), congratulating him on the renewal of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledging their continued support for the nation’s anti-drug campaign.

Th delegations led by former Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, DCGN Sunday Nbona Joseph (rtd), the nine-man delegation visited the NDLEA headquarters on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Joseph commended Marwa’s transformative leadership, describing his reappointment as a significant boost for the Agency and the country.
He praised Marwa for repositioning the NDLEA into a globally respected drug law enforcement institution, noting that his dedication, discipline, and strategic leadership have continued to yield unprecedented results in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
Joseph expressed the group’s appreciation to President Tinubu for renewing Marwa’s tenure, assuring that the retired directors remain ready to offer their guidance and expertise toward sustaining the Agency’s operational momentum.
“With your reappointment, we pray for longevity, greater strength, and more capacity to achieve even greater milestones,” he said, presenting a giant congratulatory card to the NDLEA boss.

Responding, Marwa thanked the retired directors for their gesture, acknowledging their significant contributions to the Agency during their years of service.
“We are grateful to the President for deeming it fit to renew our tenure. I also appreciate all of you for being part of the reason behind this renewal,” he said.
“NDLEA’s achievements its seizures, arrests, sensitization efforts, and rehabilitation programmes are not the work of a single individual. They are the results of the structures and commands built over the years, many under your leadership.”
Marwa noted that the Agency has recorded major breakthroughs since their retirement and assured them that more successes lie ahead, especially with the unwavering support of President Tinubu.
“I am not under any illusion that everyone is happy I returned for a second term certainly not criminal elements,” he remarked. “But with the continued support of stakeholders and the government’s full backing, we will achieve even greater results.”
