Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to facilitate the release of a businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, on the Commission’s bail conditions.
In a statement signed on 30th May 2025 by Dele Oyewale, Head Media and Publicity EFCC, states that the order was made on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, after the court was informed that Achimugu’s previous bail to her lawyer was revoked by the Commission and fresh conditions were issued.
During the proceeding, an attempt by her counsel, Kehinde Oguwumiju, SAN, to seek a variation of the terms of the bail was opposed by the Commission’s counsel, E.E., Iheanacho, SAN, and rejected by the court, following which the same was withdrawn.
Achimugu is being investigated by the Commission for alleged conspiracy, money laundering, and obtaining under false pretenses. corruption and possession of properties suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means
She was arrested on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 and brought before the court on Wednesday.
Justice Ekwo, in a short ruling, said the Commission should expedite actions to ensure the processing of all bail conditions and directed all parties to report on compliance with the directive on May 2, 2025
