Troops of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A scored a significant victory against criminal elements on Tuesday evening, neutralizing two armed bandits during a precision ambush in the Nteng general area of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State.
According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits operating within the vicinity.
At approximately 7:34 p.m., the troops executed a strategic ambush along the suspected route, successfully engaging the bandits in a brief but decisive encounter.
“Two of the bandits were neutralized on the spot. Following the engagement, troops combed the area and recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 24 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” the source confirmed.
The recovered weapons and ammunition are currently in military custody for further investigation and processing.
Security patrols and surveillance have since been intensified across the area as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and prevent further attacks in Plateau communities.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to rid Plateau and surrounding regions of criminal elements threatening peace and security.
