ABUJA – The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has unveiled the inaugural edition of the Monthly National Joint Security Press Briefing, a new platform aimed at strengthening national communication on security operations and fostering public trust in Nigeria’s security architecture.
Held at the NOA headquarters in Abuja on Monday, the event brought together spokespersons from major security, intelligence, and enforcement agencies, alongside members of the media. The initiative is coordinated by the Director-General of NOA and National Coordinator of the inter-agency communication effort, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu.
In his keynote address, Issa-Onilu emphasized the need for coordinated, transparent, and accurate updates on national security efforts, noting that the monthly briefing is designed to unify narratives, restore confidence, and counter misinformation.
“This initiative is not just about information it is about national unity. We are reclaiming the security narrative and reinforcing public confidence through strategic and proactive communication,” he said.

Towards a Unified Security Narrative
Malam Issa-Onilu praised the synergy among Nigeria’s security institutions, highlighting their collective commitment to safeguarding lives and national sovereignty.
“From the creeks of the Niger Delta to the borders of the North East, our forces are making daily sacrifices to defend our country. This briefing is a testament to their courage and coordination,” he said.
He also called on citizens to support the initiative by resisting fake news, reporting suspicious activity, and cooperating with security agencies.
During the interactive session, journalists inquired about the reporting timeframe. Issa-Onilu clarified that all data presented were verified and finalized, and published in a comprehensive 16-page report distributed to the press. He assured that future editions will feature more detailed and disaggregated data.
