The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the passing of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, the Consul General of Nigeria in Buea, Republic of Cameroon.
Ambassador Coker died on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a brief illness, according to an official statement from the Ministry.
Described as a diligent and committed career diplomat, Coker was widely respected for his professionalism and years of service to Nigeria across various diplomatic postings. His sudden death, the Ministry noted, is a painful loss not only to his family but also to the diplomatic community and the nation.
Before his posting to Buea, Ambassador Coker served meritoriously in Nigeria’s Missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, colleagues and friends at this difficult time and prays for the peaceful repose of his soul,” the statement signed by Ministry spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, read.
Ambassador Coker’s passing marks the loss of a seasoned diplomat whose contributions strengthened Nigeria’s foreign relations over the years.
