
The Aquatic Federation of Nigeria, led by President Mrs. Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, has congratulated Ebingha Collins Obi on his remarkable performance at the South Region Winter Championship, held from March 29th to 30th, 2025, in Saint Raphael, France.
Ebingha delivered an exceptional performance, surpassing his personal bests in multiple events. He secured first place in the 100m freestyle with a time of 50.80 seconds, second place in the 50m butterfly with 24.41 seconds, second place in the 100m butterfly with 55.06 seconds, and third place in the 50m freestyle with 23.46 seconds. His previous records included 50m freestyle (23.20), 100m freestyle (51.42), 50m butterfly (24.44), and 100m butterfly (54.80).
Since joining the World Aquatics High-Performance Training Programme Center in Antibes, France, in September 2023 on a scholarship, Ebingha has demonstrated tremendous potential. His progress highlights the effectiveness of the Federation’s initiatives in nurturing raw talent and positioning Nigeria for podium finishes in international competitions.
Mrs. Aliyu praised Ebingha for his dedication and for bringing pride to Nigeria. She also commended the Federation’s commitment to ensuring the team’s excellence on the global stage.
“Ebingha Collins Obi has once again showcased resilience and talent. His success is a testament to hard work and the strategic leadership of the Federation. We are proud of him and remain committed to supporting his journey to even greater heights,” she stated.
She concluded with optimism, expressing confidence that this achievement marks the beginning of many more successes to come.
