The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep concern over the reported Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, on 9 September 2025, said to have targeted senior members of the Hamas leadership.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Nigeria underscored the importance of respecting national sovereignty and international law, warning that the attack raises serious questions about regional stability and the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
The statement also acknowledged Qatar’s longstanding role in fostering dialogue and mediation, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid escalation, and recommit to peaceful engagement.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the incident and reiterate Nigeria’s unwavering support for initiatives that promote de-escalation, dialogue, and durable peace,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to working with the international community, within the framework of the United Nations and other multilateral bodies, to advance peace, security, and the rule of law in the Middle East and beyond.
The statement was signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
