The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to announce the sudden passing of Mrs. Zainab Joy Momodu, the Acting Head of Mission (Chargé d’Affaires ad interim) at the Embassy of Nigeria in Guinea-Bissau. She died on Monday, 7th July 2025, at the Military Hospital in Bissau, following a brief illness.

According to the statement, Mrs. Momodu, a devoted career diplomat, joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2010 as a member of the 20th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy. Throughout her career, she served Nigeria with excellence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. Her dedication to duty earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues within the Ministry and across the diplomatic corps.
Her untimely death is a profound loss not only to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but also to the entire diplomatic community and the nation she so dutifully served.
The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to Mrs. Momodu’s immediate family, friends, and colleagues during this period of grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. We pray for the peaceful repose of her soul and for divine comfort to all who mourn her passing.
