The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence units to Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, following a violent attack that claimed at least 75 lives.
The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, has been described by the Nigeria Police Force as a grievous assault on peace and public safety.

The Force assured Nigerians that the perpetrators will be tracked down and brought to justice, according to a statement released on Thursday by Ag. ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer.

The IGP extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Kwara State, describing the attack as both painful and tragic.

He emphasized that the immediate deployment to Kaiama and neighbouring communities aims to restore calm, reinforce security, and prevent further outbreaks of violence.

In addition, the Nigeria Police Force has launched an intensive manhunt for the attackers and all individuals connected to the crime, with investigations already underway.

The IGP assured that all available resources have been mobilised to ensure that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted. Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information via local police stations or established police communication channels.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order nationwide, vowing that no effort will be spared in protecting lives and ensuring justice for the victims of this heinous attack.
