The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disclaimed a viral video making the rounds on social media, which falsely portrays the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, making comments on alleged security operations by the Corps concerning the supposed assassination of one Kingsley Ekweme.
In an official statement dated 3rd April 2025, and signed by ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide from the Corps Headquarters in Abuja, the FRSC stated unequivocally that the video is entirely false, misleading, and fabricated. The Corps noted that the video appears to be artificially generated, possibly using AI tools, and emphasized that no such statement or interview was granted by the Corps or its spokesperson.
“The Federal Road Safety Corps did not issue any statement or engage in any media interview regarding the alleged assassination,” the statement read. “Furthermore, the Corps does not operate outside the scope of its statutory mandate.”
The FRSC is, therefore, urging members of the public to disregard the video and remain vigilant against the spread of fake news and misinformation. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate and verified information in line with its corporate mandate.
The Corps also warned that it will not hesitate to pursue legal action against those responsible for fabricating and circulating such misleading content.
The FRSC appreciates the continued understanding and support of the public.
