The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced, with deep sorrow, the passing of Ms. Ziphorah Kela, a dedicated Nigerian diplomat who died on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, following a brief illness at a private hospital in Abuja.
Ms. Kela, a mid-career officer in the Nigerian Foreign Service, joined the Ministry in 2013 and was widely respected for her professionalism, integrity, and steadfast commitment to duty. Over the course of her diplomatic career, she served meritoriously at Nigerian missions in The Gambia and Argentina, earning the admiration of colleagues and partners alike.
Until her passing, Ms. Kela was a valued member of the Presidential Villa Protocol Team, where she played a vital role in advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Ebienfa, the late diplomat was described as “a diligent and exemplary officer whose contributions to the Foreign Service will be fondly remembered.”
The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to Ms. Kela’s family, friends, and colleagues, and prayed for divine comfort and the peaceful repose of her soul.
