In a major diplomatic and security gathering, the Maiden International Diplomatic and Security Conference organized by the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will bring together an influential array of global and national figures to Abuja on July 23, 2025.
Leading the lineup is the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E. Ambassador Gautier Mignot, who will head a distinguished panel of diplomats, intelligence officials, security experts, and journalists at the high-profile event to be held at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation: The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability,”
the conference aims to explore the strategic alignment of the Tinubu administration’s 4Ds foreign policy Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography in tackling current security threats and global misinformation.
Top Nigerian security leaders including the National Security Adviser (NSA), Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) are expected to deliver key addresses, shedding light on Nigeria’s evolving security architecture and the need for coordinated responses in today’s interconnected world.
The conference will also welcome a broad cross-section of stakeholders:

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and DICAN’s Grand Patron, will deliver the keynote address, while Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja will provide scholarly insight as lead discussant.
According to DICAN’s Publicity Sub-Committee, the conference represents a bold step towards fostering constructive dialogue at the intersection of diplomacy, intelligence, and media. It aims to generate actionable policy ideas that reinforce Nigeria’s regional and global leadership role in promoting peace, security, and informed engagement.
