ABUJA: President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), on Monday officially inaugurated the first batch of participants for the CAF B-License Coaching Course at the NFF-FIFA Technical Centre, MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Describing the moment as a milestone for Nigerian football, Gusau expressed his satisfaction at the launch of the long-anticipated programme. “Today marks a moment of great joy for me,” he said. “This initiative has been in the works for a while, and seeing it come to life is incredibly fulfilling. I also warmly welcome the coaches from other nations who have joined us for this important training.”
The NFF President praised the efforts of the Technical Department, led by Coach Augustine Eguavoen, for their dedication to bringing the course to fruition. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity. “Avoid distractions and focus entirely on this learning experience,” he advised. “We plan to launch a CAF A-License programme before the end of the year, and I am confident the Technical Department will make that a reality.”

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, emphasized that the program is key to raising the standard of coaching across the country’s leagues. He warned that without high-level coaches, the performance of national teams could suffer. “This course is designed to help our coaches adopt modern techniques and gain the certifications needed to participate in international competitions such as inter-club tournaments,” he stated.
The CAF B-License course forms part of the NFF’s broader strategy to build coaching capacity nationwide. Running over four months, the course will be delivered in structured modules to provide a well-rounded educational experience. The first batch consists of 25 participants.
Present at the opening ceremony were NFF 2nd Vice President and NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye; Chairman, NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa; Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme; NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen; Director of Legal Services, Okey Obi (Esq.); Acting Director of Competitions, Ms. Ruth David; and other senior officials of the Technical Department, including former Super Eagles players Abdulrafiu Yusuf and Nasiru Jibril, as well as Head of Coaching Education, Dr. Terry Eguaoje.
