London, July 13, 2025 – Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has passed away.
According to an official statement from his longtime spokesperson Garba Shehu, the ex-leader died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a medical facility in London, United Kingdom.
Shehu’s statement reads:
“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
Buhari, a retired Major General and former military Head of State, served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023. His years in office were marked by major anti-corruption efforts, economic reforms, and a complex legacy that continues to stir debate.
Tributes are already pouring in from across Nigeria and the world, as the nation mourns the passing of a leader who remained influential even after leaving office.
