Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has congratulated the newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, describing his emergence as timely and pivotal to the party’s consolidation ahead of key political contests.
This was contained in a statement signed by Alkasim Abdulkadir Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs
According to the statement, Tuggar made this known during a courtesy visit to the new party leader at his residence in Abuja, where he praised Yilwatda’s appointment as a well-considered and strategic move for strengthening the APC’s internal cohesion and enhancing its electoral prospects.
“On behalf of my office and constituents, I warmly congratulate the new National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress. Your appointment comes at a crucial juncture in our democratic journey one that demands steady leadership, clear vision, and consensus-building,” the Minister stated.

A founding senior member of the APC and prominent figure in the Tinubu administration, Ambassador Tuggar expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s ability to unify the party, strengthen its policy-oriented vision, and navigate the evolving political landscape.
“With your leadership, I believe the APC will be better positioned to build bridges across regions, entrench internal democracy, and deliver meaningfully on our promises to the Nigerian people,” he added.
Tuggar also urged all stakeholders and party loyalists to rally behind the new chairman, emphasizing the need for renewed discipline, unity of purpose, and collective action to reposition the APC for future successes.
“This is a time for renewed commitment and strategic consolidation. With unity, discipline, and shared purpose, we can continue to deepen democratic governance and lead the country towards greater progress,” he said.
Professor Yilwatda assumes the leadership of the ruling party at a defining moment, as the APC intensifies efforts to restructure its internal systems and prepare for forthcoming electoral engagements at the local and state levels.
His appointment is seen as a critical step in the party’s broader strategy to maintain dominance and remain responsive to the evolving demands of Nigeria’s democratic environment.
