The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and misleading a purported party membership slip circulating on social media and bearing the name of notorious bandit and terrorist suspect, Mohammed Bello Turji.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, CON, the APC described the document as a complete fabrication and urged members of the public to disregard it in its entirety.
According to the party, the fake slip falsely claims that Mohammed Bello Turji was registered as a member of the APC during the ongoing Electronic Registration and Validation Exercise.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a fake ‘APC membership slip’ in circulation on social media falsely suggesting that a despicable and notorious terrorist, Mohammed Bello Turji, was registered as a member of our party,” the statement said.
The APC stressed that the document has no connection whatsoever with its official membership register or database, noting that all digital parameters displayed on the slip are fictitious.
As an example, the party pointed out that the slip indicates registration in a non-existent Ward 13 of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, whereas the local government has only 10 wards.
“All other information paraded on the fake slip is nonexistent and certainly not contained in our membership database,” the statement added.
The party further described the document as the handiwork of mischief makers bent on misleading and confusing the public for sinister purposes.
“The APC urges all party faithful and the general public to disregard the highly offensive document in its entirety,” the statement concluded.
